Payment options and charges

This page explains how money works across a treatment journey — what you pay, to whom, and when. Our aim is that you never encounter a cost you were not told about in advance.

No payment is taken on this website

There is no checkout on this site. We do not process card payments, and we will never ask you to enter card details, banking passwords or one-time codes on any page here or in a chat with our team. If you receive a message appearing to be from Elixir asking for those details, treat it as fraudulent and tell us.

The two costs to keep separate

A medical journey has two distinct costs, and confusing them is the most common source of misunderstanding:

• Hospital and clinical costs — consultation, investigations, the procedure itself, hospital stay, implants, medicines and any follow-up. These are set by the hospital, not by us. We cannot discount them and we do not control them.
• Our facilitation charges — what Elixir CareConnect charges for coordinating your journey, where such a charge applies to your case.

Our facilitation charges

Any charge for our service is disclosed to you in writing, before you commit to anything, along with exactly what it covers. That is a commitment we make to every patient, and it is also what the NABH facilitator standard requires of us.

Where we receive any commission or fee from a hospital in connection with your treatment, you are entitled to know that, and we will tell you. You should never be in a position where you cannot tell whether a recommendation was made on clinical grounds or commercial ones.

How hospital fees are settled

The route for settling hospital fees is confirmed to you in writing for your specific case before you travel, because it varies by hospital and by treatment. Whichever route applies, two things hold: you receive an itemised breakdown, and payments intended for the hospital are accounted for separately from any charge of ours.

Always obtain a receipt for every payment made to a hospital, and keep it. If you are ever unclear who a payment is going to or what it is for, stop and ask us before paying.

What an estimate includes — and what it does not

Prices shown on this website and in the estimates we send are indicative. They describe a standard treatment pathway for a patient in typical condition. They are not quotations, and they are not guarantees.

An estimate will normally state what it covers. Costs commonly not included are:

• Additional diagnostics ordered after your assessment
• A longer hospital or ICU stay than the pathway assumes
• Different implants, devices or drug protocols chosen by the treating team
• Treatment of complications, or of unrelated conditions found during workup
• Attendant accommodation and living costs, unless stated
• Flights, visa fees and personal expenses
• Extended stay for recovery before you are cleared to fly

If the cost changes

Medicine is not always predictable. If complications occur or the clinical plan changes, the cost can rise — sometimes materially. When that happens the hospital revises its figure, and we pass the revised figure to you as soon as we have it, with an explanation of what changed and why.

We would rather give you an uncomfortable number early than a comfortable one that turns out to be wrong. Any facilitator who promises you a fixed all-inclusive price for a surgical procedure before assessment is promising something they cannot control.

Currency

Indicative prices on this site are shown in US dollars for comparison. Hospital billing is generally in Indian rupees, and the amount you actually pay depends on the exchange rate and any charges applied by your own bank or card issuer at the time of payment.

Refunds

Refunds of any amount paid to Elixir are handled under our refund policy. Refunds of amounts paid to a hospital are governed by that hospital’s own policy; we will help you pursue such a request but cannot decide it.
